Revisionist History

I am pissed.

I can't help it if I wanted to.
I wouldn't help it if I could.

I feel like I am watching a horrific car wreck in super slow motion. I see it happening but no matter what I do or say, the impact is inevitable.

American Idle, talk shows, "reality TV" have made us a culture of vouyers. We watch and watch and watch. Illegal wars, drugs in our neighborhoods, overt and covert racism, rape, abuse and murder. Our government has been stolen and we all know it. Our culture has been stolen and we still bob our heads and shake our collective asses.

In my lifetime they have re-written the history of slavery.
Now it isn't the vicious brutality of the evil white man, as much as evil Black people "who sold their own people"

We are too quick to forget history.
Which makes it too easy for them to re-write it.

We are too quick to forgive our enemies.
Which makes it easy for them to redefine themselves.

How can you hate Fox News but still love Fox?
How can you hate the homofication of the Black Man in hip-hop and R&B and still celebrate every whiteboy that decides he wants to sing and dance with us?

This is serious. If not James Byrd Jr, if not Amadou Diallo, Sean Bell, Tyisha Miller, Isiah Washington, The Jena 6, Asata Shakur, Haiti, Iraq, Liberia, Palestine, Cosmo Kramer, or every living white person telling you to "get over it"...

What the f-word is it going to take?

Every night ain't a party.
We can't spend every other day sitting cross legged in semi-circles reading poetry and telling each other how talented we are.

Re-define us.
